Residential Programs : ENERGY STAR Appliances - LIMITED TIME OFFERING
In an effort to continue to improve household energy efficiency and stimulate the local economy by boosting appliance sales, we are extending the “Cash for Clunkers Appliances" program to electric customers that purchase energy-efficient appliances. The latest economic stimulus plan called the State Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program (SEEARP), also known as “Cash for Clunkers Appliances” has closed following Wisconsin’s funding allocation of $5.4 million being exhausted. The appliance rebate program that started January 1, 2010, was part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and provided consumers rebates when purchasing new energy-efficient appliances that carry an Energy Star label. To qualify for our local limited time ENERGY STAR® Appliance rebate program, consumers are required to purchase an appliance such as a clothes washer, refrigerator, freezer, and/or dishwasher with an Energy Star label. Up to $250 cash back incentive rebates are available per customer account. Appliances purchased within River Falls are also eligible for an additional $10 cash incentive per appliance. We will also continue to offer a $20 cash incentive for the proper disposal of an old refrigerator and/or freezer still in working order. All appliances turned in as part of the Responsible Appliance Recycling program will be disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner. Useful parts will be recycled and dangerous polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and ozone-damaging chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) will be recovered.
All rebates are available on a first come, first served basis, until allocated funds are spent. If you are interested in removing your less-efficient appliance off the energy grid in favor of newer efficient one to receive a cash back incentive, download an application form or contact our office to have one mailed to you. If you have additional questions regarding this program, please feel free to contact us at 425-0906.
