Public Power Event - October 9

  • View a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.
  • Learn about the “Leading By Example” community conservation effort.
  • Participate in an energy conservation game for a chance to win either a grand prize of an $800 credit voucher toward an Energy Star appliance OR one of several individual energy efficiency items.
  • Enjoy a “gourmet” meal of hotdogs, chips, and cookies.
  • Learn more about renewable and efficiency products and services and much, much more.
  • Receive a prize, just for attending!

Each year, more than 2,000 community-owned utilities, such as River Falls Municipal Utilities, across the nation observes Public Power Week, October 7 - 13. Each public power system is different due to its community’s population, geography and climate, natural resources, economic and social resources and challenges, and local government structure and goals. However, all public power systems have in common their purpose: to provide adequate, reliable, not-for-profit electricity at a reasonable price with proper protection of the environment.
