What is the City doing to communicate with the State of Wisonsin for the new legislative session?

Posted on September 2, 2015 at 9:43 AM by Keri Schreiner

As a City we communicate with our elected State representatives regularly with our concerns and questions for them to bring to the capital on our behalf.

We also work with and are members of the League of Wisconsin Municipalities. As the primary legislative advocate for Wisconsin municipalities, the League approved the Partnership for Prosperity: An Agenda for a Competitive 21st Century Wisconsin at its 116th Annual Conference in October 2014. This agenda will serve as the foundation for League lobbying efforts on behalf of Wisconsin municipalities during the 2015-2016 Legislative Session, which began on January 5, 2015.

The League’s Partnership for Prosperity agenda emphasizes the role of cities and villages as the foundation of the State’s economic success. It recognizes the need for partnership among state and local leaders, and the importance of coming together to achieve a common goal. The City Council passed resolution 5909 recently in support of the League of Wisconsin Municipalities’ Partnership for Prosperity agenda. It will provide an additional means for the City of River Falls to be represented by the League to our elected State representatives.
