What is the AMI Project?
River Falls Municipal Utilities is installing new electric and water meters on/in homes and businesses to provide utility customers with more information about their electric and water usage. The new meter installation is part of the Utilities Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) project.
Starting in June 2019, River Falls Municipal Utilities meter technicians began installing AMl electric meters in River Falls. The technicians will be wearing photo identification.
Watch for a door hanger tag announcing when the River Falls Municipal Utilities meter technicians will be replacing your electric meter.
Following electric meter installation, water meter devices will be upgraded. This will occur at a later date and time. You will be notified when water meter changeouts are scheduled in your neighborhood.
Why are these new meters being installed?
- To provide you with timely, reliable, and accurate information about electric and water usage.
- To provide utility customers with personalized information on energy and water consumption as well as usage data and alerts.
- In the future, AMI meters will provide customers with information that can be used for budgeting, water leak detection, and identification of unusual trends in electric and water usage.
