Workshop Offered on National Register of Historic Places

220 N 3rd Street (Freeman House)

The City’s Historic Preservation Commission will be holding a workshop on Saturday, November 16,  from 10-11 a.m. on the benefits and designation process for the National Register of Historic Places. The National Register is a non-restrictive, honorary program that can provide tax credits for eligible improvements. If you are interested in listing your property on the National Register, this workshop will provide guidance on the process and education on potential funding resources that may be available from the Wisconsin Historical Society.

A historical and architectural resources survey identified 50+ properties and three potential districts in River Falls that may be eligible for listing on the National Register. The City currently has five individually-listed properties on the National Register. They are:

  • North Hall and South Hall on the University of Wisconsin River Falls campus
  • Glen Park municipal swimming pool and bathhouse
  • The Swinging Bridge
  • Freeman House at 220 N. 3rd Street

If you wish to attend, please RSVP to Brandy Howe or call 715-426-3431.
