The Public Works Department oversees the maintenance of city streets, buildings, parks, and all city department vehicles and equipment.

Some tasks of the Public Works Department are:

• Sweeping streets
• Plowing snow
• Mowing parks
• Installing signs
• Maintaining the storm water system
• Maintaining the city compost and oil recycling sites
• Planting and pruning trees
• Maintaining fleet vehicles
• Managing city garbage services and advanced disposal
