Pre-Swim Classes 

Pre-swim classes are 30 minutes long.

Parent/Child (P/C)

Parent/Child lessons help parents learn how to help their child be comfortable and safe in and around water. This class is for children aged 6-36 months and a parent. Covers holding and support techniques, games, and how to safely help your child engage with the water.

Pre-Level 1 ("Bubbles")

This class is for 4 and 5 year olds not yet in kindergarten. This class focuses on helping kids become comfortable and confident in the water and addresses basic water safety. This class utilizes songs, games, and movement to engage your child safely in the pool. Students will learn to float with support and will be encouraged to get as much of their face wet as possible.  During 2022, parent will be required to be in the pool with their child.

Swim Classes

Swim classes are 45 minutes long. (During 2022, L1 & L2 are 30 minutes and will require a parent, teen sibling, or babysitter or another adult to assist each child.)

Level 1: Intro to Water Skills (L1)

This beginning level is for children who have completed Kindergarten. Level 1 focuses on teaching children to float independently and feel confident in and around water. Basic forms of the front crawl, back crawl, and elementary backstroke are introduced. During 2022, parent will be required to be in the pool with their child. 

Level 2: Fundamentals of Aquatic Skills (L2)

This level is for children that have passed Level 1. Level 2 focuses on learning beginning forms of the front crawl, back crawl, and elementary backstroke. During 2022, parent will be required to be in the pool with their child. 

Level 3: Stroke Development (L3)

This level is for children that have passed Level 2. Level 3 focuses on improving the technique of the front crawl, back crawl, and elementary backstroke in order to increase endurance. We also introduce diving, whip kick, and treading water.

Level 4: Stroke Improvement (L4)

This level is for children that have passed Level 3. In this level, students will work on increasing their endurance and technical aspects of the front crawl, back crawl, and elementary backstroke. Students will learn the sidestroke and breaststroke, as well as receive a basic introduction to butterfly.

Level 5: Stroke Refinement (L5)

In level 5, students continue to build their endurance and form, as well as develop their breaststroke, sidestroke, and butterfly into acceptable strokes.

Level 6: Water Safety & Fitness Swimmer (L6)

Students will work on mastering their technique, building endurance, and using swimming as aerobic exercise. Students will also work on advanced diving, and basic water safety techniques. By the end of level 6, students are expected to swim 500 yards without stopping.

Special Levels 1 & 2: Beginning 8+ (8+)

This level is for children that are ages 8 and older who have never had swimming lessons before, or have who a fear of the water. They will work on both Level 1 and Level 2 skills depending on their abilities. During 2022, this class will be only 30 minutes and a parent/teen sibling/babysitter will be required to be in the pool with their child. 

Guard Start

This class is to teach children water safety and the duties and responsibilities of a lifeguard. It will build a foundation of knowledge, attitudes, and skills in preparation for being a life guard. You must be 11 to 14 years old and pass the Level 5 swimming test to participate. This class is 60 minutes long. (Not offered every year.)
